manche: Well yeah, and he is an interesting char indeed. Hey, btw, have you read the alternate S2 where Maeve accidently called Mustapha back from the dead? It's a quite good one. And as for the crew having had roughly the same screen time in S1... now that's quite true although you would still have to note that most of the screen time was used for Sinbad (which is okay, he's the hero after all ). As far as I remember Firouz and Doubar each had one ep that focused on them in each of the seasons (for Firouz that would have been "King Firouz" and "City under Plague", and for Doubar it were "Isle of Bliss" and "Beast of Basra"). Only Rongs got only this one ep where he was in the centre of things. I did not read any similar story, but it sounds interestingly. I suppose that he joined to the crew after his return? In the first season Sinbad maybe had a little more time on the screen, but the rest of the crew also had a role in the plot and the difference was not so big and sometimes the main hero of an episode was not Sinbad (Doubar in Conundrum, Firouz and Rongar in The Ronin, Dermott in the last episode, Poseidon in the Siren's song), sometimes there was not any hero at the end (the Monument, Trickster is a little speculative, there was the hero probably more Dermott, because it looked after Reynard's admonition that Sinbad is thinking about the new start of the fighting), in the second season sometimes the rest of the crew had not anything for work (for example the Gift, there was not much room for Firouz, Rongar or Bryn).

It was interesting indeed, and yes, he did join the crew. Which caused some tension though, because when Mustapha died he was Rongar's best friend - a role that had then been taken by Firouz. But what happens when Mustapha comes back? That's one of the questions the season gave a possible answer to. If you're interested in it, you can find it here: liz-jen.com/tv_shows/sinbad/fanfic.htmlIf you do decide to give it a read, then enjoy.

Thank you for the link, I look at it...
You have the truth, that Firouz was probably the closest friend from the whole crew for Rongar. All members had good relationships among themselves, but some of them had closer relationship towards a member than to the rest of crew: for example Sinbad and Doubar, Sinbad and Maeve, Doubar and Maeve, Firouz and Rongar, Sinbad and Bryn,

You do that. It's definitely worth taking the time to read it (my pov at last ). And true about the crew. While they were all friends and close like a family, just like in real life they each had people they got along with better and were closer to than to the others.

Aw, right, you were involved in writing the season. I can easily imagine it was a fun experience.

But it is the shame, that Bryn is not in these alternative stories. I like her more and more during the progress of time.

I have never realised that Firouz was the only member of the crew, who did not have any contact with Mustapha, they did not have any scene together.

Doubar, yea it was nice and fun to write and edit for!
Manche, Bryn wasn't written in because of two reasons I can remember....
1. It was only one or two years after AOS ended, and not too many people were liking Bryn at all in the fandom. At the time the Steam shippers M/S were the majority and the B/S shippers (I'll not say what the nickname for them was...it wasn't nice) was the minority in the extreme.
2. The original authors of the season wanted to see how the episodes could be developed with Maeve still learning, becoming more confident in herself and her magic, falling for Sinbad, and finally breaking the curse on her brother without any other magicals being there for support.
It was a way to see how Maeve's character could grow without the other leading female magical in the show.
Maeve started in the show weak, stubborn, closed off, and unconfident in her magic; Maeve was going to end it as a strong, still stubborn but flexible, open-hearted, and powerful magical sorceress...even if she didn't finish and become a full-fledged sorceress under DimDim.

I was also one of the people who hated Bryn some time after the end of tv series. I am still the supporter of the relationship between Maeve and Sinbad, but during years I like the character Bryn more and more. Only one thing did not change in my approach, i still do not like the idea of the relationship between her and Sinbad, as I mentioned for a several times, I could imagine Doubar next to her, but Sinbad and Maeve are my favourite couple.
And it would be interesting to watch the season where we could see both these women together as the members of the crew. And Mustapha would be welcome also, similarly as in these stories.

Ah, so you are an original '96-97' AOS fan? Do you know what B/S's nickname was then?

As a said I have the very strong bond towards the first season, this season was the important part of my childhood. The second season I saw two years after that but i did not like it almost, i was angry because of the loss of Maeve and the next things. I had a big pause before I found the show again (in my country it was aired fifteen years ago for the last time) and when i returned towards this tv series, I started to appreciate the second season also and I started to like Bryn. As far as relations I've always been a fan of the relationship between Maeve and Sinbad and i really regret that their relationship did not end happily.

But it is the shame, that Bryn is not in these alternative stories. It is indeed. But reading about the reasons why I understand. Like I mentioned before I wasn't part of the old fandom even though I watched the show when it first was on air and was an avid fan, too; but I still noticed later when I visited the then deserted places how there was something close to a war going between B/S and M/S fans. And considering that it seems rather normal that Bryn wouldn't be written into a season that was made by M/S fans only shortly after the show ended. But I know what you mean, because my view on Bryn changed and developed the same way as yours did. And I must say I really am glad I could make my peace with that character because she's such a great addition to the crew.

I was also pleased with this but if someone said to me this a few years ago, I would not have believed him. Do you think if the third season was created, we could have had the chance to see these great women together in one crew?
