Not particularly flattering but she got the blank expression right! Looks like being friend with a clever scientist hasn't paid off...he can't even remember the basics...

@kriss: Alright, yes. That sounds like a good reason. ;D LOL! xD xD xD Rumina: The blank expression! Hah! That's right indeed. ;D Yup, doesn't seem to be all much interested in science, our captain. ;D And poor Firouz, too... always tries to share his knowledge with someone... and hardly anyone ever listens...

I thought Sinbad at least made the attempt to know and understand in Season 1. I can't remember if he did or didn't in season2.

Mala: Hum, yes, now that you mention it. He did indeed make the attempt at least. But then again, I can't remember Firouz explaining something in S2 anyway. In fact, he seemed to be more of a fighter and physician in S2 than he was a scientist and inventor (as he was in S1).

I do not like this episode very much.
I must admit that I did not understand the plot completely. Sinbad was a reincarnation of her former love or what? The role of Thano in the whole case was not clear to me in the episode and his connection with the crew also. His final decision stay here, I did not understand it.
There was a sudden attempt to show the relationship between Bryn and Sinbad. It looked created a bit of force, until this time there was shown almost nothing and there suddenly an unknown soldier pointed out the fact that there is a strong connection between them.
The main villian was not sympathetic and she was not pretty. And her sidekick, I still see Omar. In the connection with my recent post, I do not understand why he did not play in the Beast of Basra his former role.
The situation with eels was funny. The usage of metal against electricity. Firouz could know that this combination is not good.
Bryn's usage of magic was nice and the relaxation of our boys also.
But for me this is one of the worst episodes from the whole TV series.

Ew, don't even get me started on that ep. It's utterly pointless from beginning to end. Nothing makes sense there. Not this weird little figure that's supposed to look like Sinbad but really looks anything but. Not this Thano guy who suddenly realizes his fate is to die on the island (seriously? Why? And what exactly made him realize that?). Not this whole past lover reincarnation thing ... And certainly not the electric eel that are best to be leashed out at with metallic (!) swords. Firouz must have had a moment of mental absence when he didn't stop his friends from doing that. It's a miracle nobody got electrocuted. *headdesk* The sudden relationship attempt even is one of the things I mind the least about this ep, because it wasn't *that* much of an issue. Although, you are right with saying this - it somewhat comes out of the blue* and seems a bit forced, just like almost anything about poor Bryn did in that season. * Actually, scratch that. I just realized that "The Empress" was one of the later eps and as such has seen quite some S/B moments before that one. I guess it's just really easy to get confused with the order of eps which made us/me think this came out of the blue. Anyhow. The brunette's using of magic was one of the few nice scenes in this ep. It's a lovely moment for her because it's one of those rare ones in which she somewhat has control over her magic and can help her friends. But Omar playing that soldier yet not reprising his role as Omar in Beast of Basra... I have no explanation for that other than that maybe he was indisposed when the latter was shot. Same here.

Thano's sacrifice did not get any sense, really. He could have escaped with them, the queen killed Omar and she committed suicide. Why was his fate connected with her, as Sinbad said at the end of the episode, it was not explained.
The behaviour of "Omar" was meaningless. At first, he wanted to kill everyone, but later he helped them to escape (maybe the queen threatened him, i do not remember it correctly) and warned Bryn about the danger.
This episode is maybe the worst from the whole TV series. Worse than Invaders for me. It was a very bad episode, but I was able to understand the plot at least. There almost nothing has sense.

Exactly. Thano's sacrifice is completely pointless. He could have escaped with them, although I guess the idea behind it was that he was making sure the others would indeed get away while he'd keep the Queen occupied. Didn't quite work out though for as far as I remember she killed him right after, isn't that right?
In any case, as for "Omar's" behaviour: I think that was meant to be the whole lover-gets-rejected-but-still-is-in-love thing. First he tries to kill the crew because they are a threat to what little he might have had the Queen (being her servant and thus being able to worship her and dream of a future together) and thus he wants to get rid of them. But then he realizes that this just won't do it, so he concludes that if Sinbad abandons her he might have better chances of having her to himself again. So, he helps the crew. In a way his behaviour does make sense. You just have to keep in mind that he's sort of love sick and tries to re-establish the status quo they had before the Queen recognized Sinbad to be her past lover come back to life. But of course, I must admit I don't recall the details either. That list is not really on my watch-every-now-and-again list. >.>
Hum, it's a tough desicion though which one is worse. Invaders just didn't fit the show at all and that priest was annoying at the best, but hearing Rongar's voice is definitely a major pro that the Empress just has nothing to compare to. So yup, I guess I have to agree, it's even worse than Invaders.
