Wiccan religion. Something Celtic or pagan I think. I´m not that well versed in these things unfortunately.

begin they ask about the religion first the name wicca is new and got actually more hollywood as religion. wicca is simple to say a nature religion.. you also can call them wytch religion... and the female is the heigst they know... so it's totally stupid that womens wasn't allowed to keepthat book... in that epiode.
you can get a nice feeling what the religion is about when you read with mind the book tze mist of avalon...
for me it's the heigh godness the god in that religion is no other as mother nature herself...

*has read the post and wikipedia [Thank God that one exists! ;D]* Ah, pretty interesting. Plus, wikipedia says that JRR Tolkien even used that word for Saruman and Gandalf in his drafts for the Two Towers ...

Aah, that makes more sense to me. I partly read Mists of Avalon.
I always found these thoughts interesting. Nature religions usually have a female or goddess element in them that is lacking in the "book religions". Dan Brown had some interesting theories about why that is so and whereas quite some parts of his books are fantasy and speculation for sure, I always found his ideas about the "female divine" rather interesting.

actually I belive more in the old religion like I told wicca, because it's simple nature... some wicca stuff is Hollywood make in my opinion BUT yeah for me as for some wiccas are mist of avalon like a bible... this told me a wicca ones.
so I was and I'm a little mad at this episode. It like a christian saying... "No women to keep that book" the wiccas have actually a book .... but not like bible.. each wicca have if they want her own... you can call it also book of shadows YEP like that charmed book. BUT you can also have there the recipe of your fav. lunch... LOL ;-)

Yea, I agree, that episode seemed to rebel against the Wytch/Wiccan/Wicca ways in that men had control of the book.
But, correct me if I am wrong, didn't that book come from a branch of Druids? Isn't that what the group was? If so, then it made sense that the men had control of the book as Druids had power even if Druidess' did too.

when I remeber correctly there was told once NO women in the wicca religion... it was not just mention for the book... there was something that like a sentence where I really get mad at this one... in the german version... can't watch it because my recorder is broken... have to watch maybe the original version....

A friend of mine is asctually a practicing wicca and it's called the wytch religion in that they do use spells and herbs and potions and all that, but they also honor the balance between male and female. With the Mother Goddess/Mother Earth and the Horned God. They give honor to the changing seasons and try to honor the lands and live in harmony with the plants and animals.
At least the orothdox wytch followers do so. Some simply revere the balance of genders and follow the ways taught by the High Priest and High Priestess.... Male and female were in balance and that was seen as hertic to the church so it was all thrown out of proportion and blah blah blah happened (witch hunts, witch burnings, ect...).

Oh, I don't remember that line, but if they said that...yea, I can see why one would get upset. There are women in the wicca.

(wasn't told that like but sounds that like in my eyes) like I told also it was in the german version. I have to watch the original version agan and listen carefully. it is years ago I totally get mad abozt that sentence I do not even know which scene it was...
