Summary:
The Pasha of Gedron commissions Sinbad and his crew to sail to The Isle of Bliss and bring back the legendary "Singing Sword." Hundreds have died trying to capture the magical sword that grants one wish every 50 years. The Pasha agrees to give Sinbad the wish in exchange for the priceless sword. Sinbad and his crew are introduced to the beautiful captain Alanna, a female sailor who lost her ship and crew on a previous attempt to retrieve the sword. Alanna is willing to return to the dangerous island because of the fortune the Pasha has promised her. Doubar immediately becomes smitten by her, but Maeve senses her evil nature. The crew sets out to recover the sword and use the wish to find Dim-Dim.
As the journey begins, Maeve tells Alanna she will chart the path by watching the stars. Alanna secretly works her magic and changes night into day. Suspecting Alanna is the cause of the spell, Maeve searches her cabin and finds her magic conjuring bowl with black magic symbols around its rim. Alanna bursts in, promising Maeve she will not be defeated in her own quest for the sword. Maeve runs on deck to tell the others of her findings, but a gust of wind conjured by Alanna blows her overboard. The frantic Sinbad sights Maeve's fireballs from far across the sea and is able to save her. Once on board, she tells everyone of Alanna's true nature. During the commotion, Alanna morphs into a venomous harpy and flies towards the Isle of Bliss.
After realizing Alanna is gone, Sinbad and the crew go ashore on the nearest island assuming it must be The Isle of Bliss. They immediately hear the singing sound of the sword. They follow the path of a boy named Gideon, who, along with other village people, have gone deaf due to the constant humming of the sword. Because of the abuse they have suffered from other sword hunters, the boy doesn't trust them. After Doubar saves Gideon from a snake and gets bit in the process, Gideon realizes he can trust them. Gideon offers to take them to the cave where the sword is hidden. Alanna arrives at the cave first and finds the sword hanging from a thin filament over an iridescent, bubbling pool. The filament hangs from an opening in the roof of the cave. Since the island is protected by the sword's spell, no other magic will work. Alanna tries to wade into the pool, burning her foot in what she realizes is acid.
Doubar is suffering greatly from the snake venom. He convinces the others that he will be all right, and they proceed into the cave. They find the wounded Alanna. Sinbad has Dermott peck at the knot while Maeve remains in telepathic connection with him the whole time. Just as the knot loosens, Sinbad jumps across the lethal pool and catches the falling sword and lands into Doubar's arms on the other side of the pool. Doubar then collapses to the ground. Realizing Doubar will die, Sinbad and the crew agree to use the one wish to save his life.
As the wish is used and Doubar recovers, the spell of the sword over the island is broken. Alanna transforms back into a harpy. She is lured into an acidy grave after a fierce battle with the crew.
