Bryn exited Caipra's house. She had a strange feeling about Caipra's motives of staying behind a while. For one, Sinbad was there. She expected her to talk to him. With Sinbad's current mood, this could spell trouble. She just hoped their chat won't be long, and they would soon join them. She looked at Dermott perched on her arm and said to him telepathically, "I don't know about you, but I don't like this. Sinbad is in no state for talking, especially about Maeve."

Caipra was the last one to exit the house. Everyone was waiting for her. She looked at Dermott. Bryn was talking telepathically to him. Their conversation could wait a little.
"Well, follow me. I'll show you the way. I'm sure you will like the tavern's owner. Her name is Kriss. I talked to her about you. She will be glad to meet you."

Rongar grinned as they walked through the streets to this tavern Caipra was leading them too.
He was starving!
That tiny piece of bread he had, had before wasn't near enough to fill his belly.
He eyed the people around them with a little suspicion.
He wasn't very worried with Caipra with them, but he wasn't going to let them be caught off gaurd either.

[Taking place before Caipra exits the house]
Dermott sighed. It was true. Now that his unconscious wall of denial finally broke, all the sorrow and sadness their captain locked into his heart for over a year suddenly surfaced, and now he had to face with it.
“You are right, but sooner or later he would have to deal with this kind of situations. Just trust Caipra, I’m sure she know very well how to treat Sinbad right now. Have you notice how she managed to lighten the mood? She is an emphatic and understanding person, you’ll soon find out by yourself.”

Bryn chuckled at Dermott''s reply. He was right: Caipra did seem to know how to treat Sinbad. She probably should have more faith in the sorceress. "You're right. She can........"
As soon as she saw Caipra coming out, she stopped talking to Dermott. She looked at Caipra who told them to follow her. She smiled and nodded to show that she understood then followed Caipra, staying close to the sorceress.

Everyone was following Caipra in silence. Sinbad was the last one, Doubar was just before him, keeping an eye on his brother, and Firouz and Rongar were not far from him. They were all probably thinking about what happened in Caipra's house, the discomfort that everyone felt after what Bryn said about Maeve. The young sorceress was walking near Caipra, Dermott still perched on her arm. Even if she was trying to hide it, Caipra could see her impatience. She wanted answers. Bryn was this kind of girl who, when she wants something...she got it. just like her sister. The old sorceress just hoped that it was the only thing she had in common with her...
Caipra looked briefly at the hawk and then look ahead and said telepathically so noone could noticed she was talking to him. "You haven't say anything since you're here, Dermott. Is there something wrong?"

As Caipra send him her mental salutation, Dermott blinked for a moment at his old friend. He was feeling her presence in his mind. A warm and reassuring aura, everlasting, strong, but at the same time gentle like a candle.
She greeted him not like a pet or a strangely smart hawk. But like who he really was, a young boy trapped in cage of feathers. For the first time since Maeve's disappearance he could be himself again, with someone to whom share his doubts, and maybe be finally useful to help the crew with his sister’s quest.
“Greetings Caipra."
Replied the hawk noticing how she sealed their conversation leaving Bryn outside. So he understood at once that the old sorceress was counting on his help to clarify the messy information she received before. And he was eager to give her all the answers she needed.
“We had our ups and downs since the last time we met. And we had to face quite a lot of changes”

Bryn raised an eyebrow. She sensed that someone was trying to shut her out, and she was pretty sure it was Caipra. But she decided not to say anything and just kept walking, like she hadn't even noticed anything.

Caipra thought about what Dermott said. He was right, so many things had changed since the last year. Maeve's disappearance had affected all the crew. But some of them were more affected than the others... And Bryn, where was she all this years? She suddenly reappeared in a mystery island the same day Maeve disappeared...Caipra didn't used to believe in coincidences. The old sorceress was wondering what Dermott thought about that. He knew more things than anyone else in the crew.
"Sinbad is really affected by all this. He tries to hide it but I can see it. This year must have been difficult for him. But what about you Dermott? How are you feeling? You lost your sister, and then Bryn joined the crew. You didn't...keep a good memory of the last time you met her, right?"

Caipra’s words lingered between them as a statement they both were aware of. There was no use to hide something from the old sorceress, she seemed always aware of everybody’s hidden secrets, so he didn’t pretend it was otherwise.
“He was devastated, for over a year, and since no long ago he couldn’t even realized it. He just… kept on cutting out everything and everybody. Sometimes he looked like… another person.”
He sounded in her mind with a slight relieved tone, to imply that their Captain was fortunately out of danger now. Then he paused, trying to find the right words
“As for me… I couldn’t, I didn’t want to let myself to fall into despair. I wanted to be useful. At least this time.” One year ago, I could have leave the Nomad to search for her. But I realized that there was an issue holding me back on board. Something that only I could deal with.” He waited just few seconds before adding “I didn’t trust her at first”
And, for a moment he turned his head towards Bryn. She had surely come to the conclusion that Caipra was isolating her from their conversation, but she was politely keeping quiet, as if she was only enjoying their walk. As it already happened earlier inside the house, for the second time in a day Dermott guessed that Dim-Dim’s wife knew a lot about the woman without memory. Caipra had, without doubt, already understood that he has changed his mind about Bryn since last year, and hoped to finally solved all the doubts and suppositions he couldn’t share with the others. They came here searching for help, but seemed that the extent of Caipra’s knowledge was far beyond their expectations. They had a lot of things to talk about.

Sensing Dermott looking at her, Bryn turned her head and looked at Dermott, puzzled.

Caipra saw Byn looking at Dermott. She must be wondering what he and the sorceress were talking about.
"I can understand that you didn't trust Bryn at first. But people can change if you give them another chance." Surely, Dermott was already aware of that. He seemed really closed to Bryn now, and that was a good thing. Dermott was a very good person. He stayed with Bryn instead of searching for his sister. And he realized that the young sorceress was different from the one he met before. The old sorceress hoped that he could help her when...
So Bryn was there, with the crew, but Maeve's disappearence was still a mystery for Caipra and that's the reason why she wanted to have that private conversation with her friend.
"Tell me more about what happened last year when...Maeve disappeared." She stopped a moment, thinking about something Bryn said earlier, when they were in the house. "How do you know that she is with Dim-dim?"

“He told us himself, through a sort of channeling. We couldn’t even see his physical form, we just heard his voice. And for a very brief time, because the contact faded away in a couple of minutes.”
Dermott had wished for so long that their captain made up his mind to come to Caipra. With all her wisdom and magic she could maybe understand better than anybody else what really happened that day. So, before proceeding with his report, he tried to remember every detail he could find in his memories, secretly hoping she was able to really do something.
“There had been a storm.” He added decisively “It was so strange, as if the air was all filled with tension and electricity, and our minds were overshadowed. Maeve… fell overboard, and in this very instant I felt like a magic wall raising between her and us. I could still sense her presence, but we could no longer communicate, and this never happened before.
Everything took place so fast and so suddenly. When Sinbad jumped into the waters and I followed him, Maeve was still near, I’m sure. I could feel her magic at work, beyond the wall. But we simply weren’t able to reach her. When the rain stopped, she was gone too. “
“I’ve flied and flied for over a day, but even if I knew she was alive, I couldn’t locate her position at all. It was as if her essence was everywhere but at the same time …lost.”
Then he added what he thought to be the most important thing in this story
“Dim-Dim also said that it was Rumina’s work, that she tried to kill Maeve, but also that he had been able to step in somehow. And the strange thing is that…that witch never showed up again since then, while Maeve and Dim-Dim are trapped together, somewhere”
He still have to tell her about Bryn, and how he found so strange that she appeared mysteriously right after his sister disappearance. But a question, a hope he hold within him for too long was pressuring from his chest.
“Caipra, … have you any idea of where this place could be? And if …” he hold his breath before he was able to complete the sentence “…there is any chance, any way, to get there?”

Caipra listened to Dermott's story. So Rumina could be behind all this. that would explain why nobody have heard about the witch since all this time. Create a storm like Dermott described it asks a lot of energy. Even Rumina who was a powerful witch could not recover from this enchentment too easily. But where was she now? And did she know that Bryn was back? Caipra hoped that she didn't. The sorceress was so surprised to hear about Rumina that she forgot Dermott's question for a moment.
"I'm sorry Dermott...But I don't know where this place could be. When my husband disappeared, I searched a way to find this place or at least a way to contact him for months. But even my magic is not enough stronger to thwart this spell."
Caipra knew that it was not what Dermott wanted to hear. Like Sinbad, he really hoped that the old sorceress could give them the answers they were so looking for. She tried to reassure him.
"But I don't loose hope. And apparently, My husband is also looking for a way to get out of this place. He already found a way to contact you. That's really unexpected. That proves that he is not completely cut from the rest of the world."
Caipra was so happy to hear this. Dimdim succeded in contacting the crew to tell them that Maeve was fine. She remembered that day he contacted her. It was before she met the crew for the first time. He just said that he was fine and that she had to help the crew whenever she could and then...he disappeared before Caipra could say anything. The crew didn't know that Dimdim already contacted his wife once. But for the old sorceress that meant a lot of things. She promised to herself to try to contact him again as soon as she could. For now, she tried to get more details about Dermott's story.
"Tell me what happened next? Did he contact you again after that? And did he say something about Bryn?"

“A very few times, and always when we were in great danger,” replied Dermott trying to hide his delusion. “but they never lasted long, as if…he was somehow obliged to interrupt the connection”.
Dermott thought or hoped that Caipra kept in touch with the Master, and as a matter of fact with his sister. But the day Maeve get lost, he swore to be brave, and he had no intention to renounce now. And surely, nobody among his friends will give up on Maeve and the Master. All of them together, will definitely find a way to free the old wizard and the sorceress.
Then he thought about Caipra’s last question. As a matter oof fact, she spoke as if she already was aware that her husband had mentioned Bryn. In the past he would have justified this kind of hints assuming that being magicians, the two of them would have surely known, by magic, things the others weren’t able to conjecture. But now, he finally knew the truth about Dim-Dim’s cryptic words. He talked as if he already met Bryn before, and so did Caipra, just because they already get aquainted with the elemental sorceress years ago.
“Bryn..” added the bird giving voice to his wonderings “appeared out of the blue the very same day of the storm, on a nearby island. And yes, Dim-Dim did mentioned her. He Just said that she would have been of great help for the crew.” than he looked at his old friend a bit amused, expecting with curiosity for her reply.
